Spiele: Otl Aicher's Olympic Graphic Design
An exhibition of graphic design by the office of Otl Aicher for the 1972 Munich Olympics.

On view August 26 through
October 17, 2008

The exhibition is comprised of original works: 32 A0 posters of the identity program, planning, wayfinding, sports, and cultural events; at least 13 A1 posters showing the extensive icon program for Erco, and identity programs for the Munich Airport, Frankfurt Airport, EVS, and Sütex; and the Olympic Torch, Olympic mascot Waldi, and dozens of other publications and artifacts illustrating the extent of the 1972 Olympic identity program.

Joe started collecting the work of Aicher in 2002, and was asked by the Thompson gallery to curate and design the exhibition as well as loan the work for the duration of the exhibit. For several years Joe has taught systems and identity design at San José State University, and planned this exhibition for the benefit of his students and the design community.
