Joe Miller started his career as a designer at Atari and was then a senior designer at the international public relations firm Burson-Marsteller. Since then Joe has received national to international recognition in over 55 books and publications, including AIGA annuals, American Corporate Identity annuals, The Design of Dissent, 1000 Type Treatments, 1000 Icons, Fresh Ideas books, Graphis books, The New Logo from California books, Typography 12, Communication Arts, Print, and How. His articles on design have been published in AIGA Journal of Graphic Design, LIMN, and Studio. He has received more than 120 regional to international awards for graphic design and his work has been included in exhibitions nationwide. joe miller's company clients have included HP, Compaq, Hitachi Data Systems, Quantum, Willow Technology, and The New York Times. Nonprofit clients include Works/San José, Association for Viet Arts, The Good Shepherd Fund, and Arts Council Silicon Valley. Projects for screen, print, and environments include a wide range of material, from symbols and icons to packaging, announcements, and exhibit design. Joe has been a member of the graphic design faculty at San José State University since 1988.

Joe's solo exhibition at Space 47 is the subject of Sal Pizarro's column in the San Jose Mercury News; on artsopolis too. The logo design for Space 47 is honored in Print's 2008 Regional Design Annual. This will be Joe's 16th appearance in the annual.
